TrasnferNews : Manchester United eye bid for £40million-rated Everton hotshot Romelu Lukaku
The Red Devils know that they will struggle to convince the Toffees to part with one of their key men but are ready to move for the Belgian as part of a summer spending spree
Manchester United are ready to test Everton’s resolve to keep their £40million-rated goal machine Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku has set the Premier League alight this term with 15 goals and has plundered 12 in his last 12 games in all competitions to take his season’s total to 19.
United looked at Lukaku last summer, but boss Louis van Gaal ultimately decided against lodging an official bid for the Belgium international.
But with goals in short supply for United this season, Lukaku is back on their radar – although Everton are certain to resist their advances.
United know they are unlikely to succeed with a bid for Lukaku in this month’s transfer window, with Everton unwilling to let the 22-year-old go.
Although United have played down a bid for Lukaku this month, it is understood they are ready to move for him as part of another huge summer spending spree.
United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward knows the Reds need a host of big-name signings – including a prolific striker – to lift the club back to the top.
Other summer targets include Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, Tottenham and England striker Harry Kane, as well as Southampton forward Saido Mane but Southampton have rejected their bid .
