PSL : ‘They used to call me Taribo West’ Edwin Gyimah
Gyimah has impressed since Coach Eric Tinkler moved him to the heart of Orlando Pirates defence, something that has being a problem for Pirates for a well.
The Ghanaian international footballer was the Man of the match against Bloemfontein Celtics.
Gyimah was on three yellow cards and did well not to get a yellow card that will rule him out of the game against Kaizer Chiefs in the first round of Nebank Cup.
The black star international was really happy with his performance, when asked he said :
“The coach knows that I can play midfield or defence so he knows he has to think about the best place for me”
“I can’t say which one is my favourite because it’s all tactical decisions for the team”
“When I arrived, I went 4 games without playing. I asked the coach what I needed to do to play & we discussed it & I did it”
“When I make a mistake that leads to a goal I don’t sleep at night. It keeps me thinking all the time & I try my best to fix it”
“We talk as defenders, we always know that we have to keep sharp but we also know that we need to work. Everything will be ok”
“I used to play defence as a kid. They used to call me Taribo West. I used to hit the ball long so it made sense to play back”
“I learnt to play CDM by watching how big guys like me play in that position. I try to read the game & position myself like them”
“I will work hard, I wanna kill myself for this team. That’s what it means to me to play at Pirates.”
“If we all give it our best then we won’t be beaten unless we let ourselves down. We just have to keep our heads up”
