PSL : Ten Men Dikwena dispose off Matsatsantsa

Ten-man Dikwena disposed off SuperSport United 1 – 0 in their first league game of the season at Royal Bafokeng Stadium.


A solitary goal by Robert Ng’ambi’s on the 62nd minute goal for Dikwena secured them three point,

The debutant Sphamandla Mlilo sent off eight minutes earlier .

Phokeng based side started the game at low pace, sitting back inviting the visitors to come at them

Newly signed players like Siphamandla Mlilo, Reneilwe Letsholonyane as well as Morgan Gould, started well for their sides

Dikwena had their first chance on the 5th minutes of first half after a deflection from Morgan Gould.

Supersport united gained momentum as the game progressed and they visited Platinum stars box several times with more shots at goal compared to the home side.

The former Kaizer chiefs midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane’s combination with former Doncaster Rovers player Dean Furman  was great as the pair took control at midfield and that led to Matsatsantsa great ample changes

Vuyo Mere played in his new playing role at the club as attacking midfielder had outstanding game and looks enterprising, difficult to mark also making blind runs in that attack.

Ng’ambi had an opportunity to score but missed

Ndumiso Mabena and Henrico Botes had good combination that resulted to golden opportunity to score by Ndumiso but he missed that chance to score with 20 minutes left of the first half.

The game went into the break with both teams locked at 0 – 0

The Second half opened up

Dean Furman had several shots at goals yet denied by home team’s back four led by Siphamandla Mlilo

The debutant Sphamandla Mlilo  was shown a red card on the 52 minutes by referee Phillip Tiyani

Platinum Stars had to play with ten men for the remained of the game

Dikwena took the lead eight minutes later when Vuyo Mere’s free kick found Robert Ng’ambi unmarked and he headed home to put the home side 1-0 up against Matsatsantsa a Petori,

Supersport united had to take game to the home side in an attempted to find the equalizer , but it wasn’t Supersport United’s day as they had many chances but struggled to convert those chances,

Monyamane came in to make his debut for Thuso Phala while Dove Wome came in for Michael Morton as coach Stuart Baxter tried all angels to attack and to exploit the numerical advantage his team had

Cavin Johnson make three substitution in a bid to defend his teams lead by bringing on Solomon Mathe, Kulekani Madondo and Kobamelo Godisang to replace Sibusiso Msomi, Tintswalo tshabala and goal scorer Robert Ng’ambi

Phillip Tinyani blew his final whistle of the game and Dikwena won the game which they fought very hard to get that goal.
