PSL :Rikhotso issues Fileccia apology
Bloemfontein Celtic defender Tshepo Rikhotso has issued an apology to Andrea Fileccia, after the injury he caused to the Free State Stars striker during the weekend’s derby game.
Ea Lla Koto won the match at Goble Park by 1-0, but suffered an early first half setback when Belgium marksman Fileccia, their top goal-scorer, was forced off the field with a serious injury after clashing with Rikhotso.
Celtic say they have already issued an apology to Stars, while the The Phunye Sele Sele defender has added his own statement to the matter:
“After the team formally apologised for what they termed ‘unsporting conduct’ in a letter written to Stars, Rikhotso also expressed his sadness and apologised to Free State Stars and the Belgian striker,” read a statement on the Celtic website.
“I am still distressed by the pain caused to Fileccia by my tackle and feel sorry for him as I did not hack him deliberately,” said Rikhotso. “It was painful to see him on the stretcher because of my unintended actions.
“I wish him a speedy recovery and apologise unreservedly to his team for causing an injury to such prolific striker who has contributed immensely to their progress this season. Andrea must remain strong, I will also call him to show my remorse.”
