Football - Absa Premiership 2015/16 - Supersport United v Orlando Pirates - Peter Mokaba Stadium

The result moves Pirates up to seventh place, while Aces are now 10 points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

Orlando Pirates started like a house on fire, taking the game to Aces. It was not a surprise when on the fifth minute Thabo Rakhale gave Pirates with a great close-range half volley from Luvuyo Memela’s right-wing cross. The great move started on the right with Matlaba and it involved Motupa who layed off the ball to Memela who picked out Rakhale’s run from deep. Rakhale across his marker at the back post, and the finish was excellent.

After the goal the game opened up an both teams started attacking each other with Orlando Pirates using the counter as they many weapon. Twelve minutes into the first half it was 1-1 as Collins Mbesuma scored beating Brighton Mhlongo on his near post.  Pirates were could out of position at the back and failed to clear the second ball which was calmly collected by Bryce Moon down the right who passed it to Mbesuma to unleash a powerful low drive shot. It was Mbesuma 12th Premier Soccer league goal this season.

Pirates kept on pressing Aces and dominating ball possession, it was Pirates winners Rakhale and Mamela who gave Aces a headache with Motupa in toe.

Mbesuma should have made it 2-1 after a great interplay between Ngoma and Jayiya.

Pirates should have gone into the first half break leading the game  1 -3 but composer and lady luck was not on their side. Mpho Makola tried to reproduce the magic like he did against Sundowns but his well placed direct free kick well hit the crossbar with a direct free-kick.

Gift Motupa added to his number of misses twice and Issa Sarr tried to half volley the ball after a great work on the left by Rakhale who’s pin point cross found Sarr at the far post but he didn’t connect with the ball well and it wet wide.

Both teams went into the break 1-1.

Second half saw Tendai Ndoro being brought on for Lehlohonolo Majoro. Ndoro has struggled for game time ever since coming to Pirates and he was looking to impress.

Ndoro scored Pirates second goal on the 69th minute from what looked like a pass but ended in the back of the net, however the was some doubt if the goal should be credited to him cause it seems like Motupa may had the final touch.  Ndoro pass a good diagonal ball into the box towards Motupa’s but missed the ball and confused Shu-Aib Walters, who was flat footed as the ball trickled over the line.

Ndoro got his brace after getting the ball on the left, the Aces defenders allowed his to turned and he unleashed a powerful low drive shot into the bottom-right corner outside the eighteen yards box. The entire team celebrated with Ndoro as he got the monkey of not scoring off his back.

Ndoro almost got a hat-trick in stoppage time when Makola played him through the middle, but shoot wide.

Memela hasn’t seen much game time but he showed that he can command a starting position. The last time Ndoro scored it was when he was an Aces player scoring against Pirates
