MaizeCup : Ovono set to travel with Pirates to Rustenburg for Maize Cup
Equatorial Guinea number one keeper, Flippe Ovono was called back to train with the Orlando Pirates first team
The Equatorial Guinea keeper joined Orlando Pirates in 2015 after his heroic displays at African Cup Nations.
In 2013, Ovono signed with Deportivo Mongomo where he became the captain of the team. In his first season with Mongomo, he was honoured with the trophy of best goalkeeper in the league.

In 2014 he played the African Cup hosted in Equatorial Guinea and this time he played all the matches of his team. The team ended 4th in the competition.
During the competition, Ovono realized great performances against big teams like Gabon, Tunisia, and Congo.
He attracted the attention of several teams from Europe and Africa.
In 2015, Ovono signed with Orlando Pirates from South Africa. He made his competitive debut for Orlando Pirates FC on 22 August 2015 and kept a clean sheet against AC Leopards on CAF Confederations Cup

Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Flippe Ovono off to Rustenburg as been roped in to train with senior team.
The Orlando Pirates goal minder will join the team for their pre-season Maize tournament cup against Platinum Stars.
Ovono was amongst the players sent to train with the Bucs development academy with the likes of Sifiso Myeni, Rooi Mahamutsa and Lehlogonolo Masalesa as they are not part of coach Muhsin Ertugral’s plans for the new season.

The Equatorial Guinea keeper was said to be heading to Saudi Arabia for an assessment, but a deal did not materialize.
According to a source at Pirates, Ovono returned to train with the senior team yesterday morning ahead of the trip to Rusternburg to play in the Maize Cup against Platinum Stars this weekend.
“Ovono is back at training. He was with the rest of the players this morning(Yesterday) and is expected to be part of the team to play in Rustenburg this weekend,”
Ovono, whose performances in the CAF Confederation Cup stood out last year, is battling for a starting place with Brighton Mhlongo, Jackson Mabonkgwane and Siyabonga Mpontshane.
