Supporters Corner :Orlando Pirates Women’s League Celebrates Women’s day.
Orlando Pirates Greater Protea North branch hosted other women branches, to discuss issues relating to the club.
They invited other branches as far as KZN, Northwest, and their neighboring branches. The ladies came in numbers to join in the celebration of women’s day with the branch and they were dressed in traditional Pirates garments.
The initiative called Great Ladies Women’s League, was formed by the Greater Protea North Branch in 2007 and went in full force in September 2013.
Four branches,Greater Protea, Thulani Doornkop, Pimville, and Klerksdorp came together and formed Great Ladies Women’s League.
Chairperson of the League,Mrs. Nomvula Mosia expressed how important the initiative is and how they need to grow the numbers who are card caring members of Orlando Pirates Supporters group.
She further more stated that the league has a constitution, a funeral scheme and a community service project that has since donated blankets to a disabled home called Tokologo and they are looking to grow to other homes.
She also spoke about vision 2020 and their aim is to grow the women’s league and have a clubhouse,own transport and that the initiative be self sustaining.
The guest were served with a well cooked meal and drinks. The club merchandise including, aprons, caps, golf shirts,scarfs,hats, cups and jerseys were sold at the meeting.
