NFD : The battle is brewing at the top and bottom of the log

National first division teams will be going all out to add the tally of points in their bucket as they will be playing their last game for the first round.


All NFD teams have played 14 games in the 2015/2016 season. We have seen the likes of Cape Town All stars starting the season on a high note going four(4) games ubeaten. Their first loss came at the hands of Milano FC at home. Cape Town All Stars were coached by Dan Malesila who is now a Bloemfontein Celtic mentor.

The expensively assembled team, Royal Eagles are fifth on the log. Eagles have seasoned PSL players like Katlego Mphela, Khethokwakhe Masuku and Old John Mabizela. Although they had a slow start as well but they have slowly picked up the pace.The Durban side began on a very slow pace, but have found their perfect grip

The new comers Mbombela United have shocked many as currently their are seating on position 2 while Mthatha Bucks are limping in the same position as Mbombela United but at the opposite end of the table.

The Eastern Cape boys are still finding it hard to raise the flag of this province high as they have only managed to secure maximum points twice in 14 games beating only Moroka Swallows and Santos.

The battle for the log summit and the relegation battle has already started taking shape. At the top of the table only seven points separates the log leaders Baroka FC from Highlands Park who are in position six.

Baroka FC and Highlands Park lock horns this coming Saturday in Makhulong Stadium, it promises to be a six point as the leaders will be looking to widen the gap while Highlands Park will be looking to reduce the gap to four points.

Moroka Swallows continues to fight for its life in the ICU ward. The birds are seating at position 14 with only 3 points separating them from bottom of the log which has FC Cape Town are in the dead bed. Mthatha bucks is slowly caughing life, perhaps they might consistently collect points and eventually make their fans proud.

It still remains to be seen if Baroka FC can hold on to the leader this season to gain automatic promotion to PSL and if Moroka Swallows can find their feet and move to a more respectable position while there are numerous speculations on who will be the next owner of this legendary team not to mention their next coach.
