KaziFootball : Alexander teams are falling at the Philly’s games (Day Seven)
The 2014 Philly’s games champions, Gomora from Alexander have been booted out of the tournament at Phomolong sport ground earlier today .
Gomora were defeated 3-2 on penalties by Abarondoli who also featured the Chippa United wizard, Lerato Tshabangu. In the 1st leg. Abarondoli managed to convince the ball to kiss the ball once and won by 1-0. In match day 7, Abarondoli pulled one back as they equalized. The two sides wrestled until the last minute. Penalties were the only way to decide who will advance to the next stage of the tournament. The Khalambazo side will be determined to go as far as possible in this tournament. The last time they won a 1st price it was still R20 000.
Gomora will be forced start at the dusty stage of the tournament should they participate in the 25th edition of the Philly’s games in 2016. The first leg of match day 6 which was abandon due to heavy rain between The Black Stars and Rebels ended in a 1-1 draw. The rebels are the 2014 silver medallist who seem to be determined in reaching the climax of the tournament. Black Stars came in for the 1st time in this tournament in 2012, and they have been finding it hard to climb to the roof of the competition.
Match day 8 which will continue tomorrow at Phomolong will be the decider between these two rivals. Black Stars is the only remaining team which have the hopes of Alexander soccer lovers on its shoulders. Cheese FC were the first Alexander team to exit the tournament . Amandla FC have also qualified for the quarter finals following a slender victory in a game which was decided on penalties as they overthrow the virgins of the tournament, Amalove day on penalties. Amandla are the 2012 victors who won the tournament and failed dismally to defend it the following year.
It continues to be a nightmare for Dream team to win the Philly’s game trophy as they receive a severe boot from Mad Bulls who have been consistent in scoring goals. Bulls won 3-1 on aggregate. Another Tembisa side, AmaBEE from straight-line in Tsenelong have sent FC S’godi packing as they win 2-0 on aggregate. AmaBEE will be going to the quarter finals with tall hopes of bringing the glorious year back, just like they did in 2010, when they lifted this trophy. Match day 8 is expected to produce electrifying atmosphere and more goals as teams will be battling for the next phase of the tournament.
