Kaizer Chiefs advance to the first round in Champions League

Kaizer Chiefs advanced to the first round of the CAF Champions League with a 1-0 aggregate win over PWD Bamenda.

The game was not televised but Kaizer Chiefs showed the game live on the youtube channel for their supporters.

The second leg ended up in a stalemate of 0-0 despite the visitors having arrived less than 24 hours in South Africa, Kaizer Chiefs failed to take advantage of the tired team

Gavin Hunt made four changes from the team that started the first leg, he brought back Lebogang Manyama, Kgotso Moleko, Nkosingiphile Ngcoo, and Philani Zulu.

Kaizer Chiefs went into the game with a cushion of an away goal after winning 1-0 last week.

PWD were pushing for an early goal so that they can tie the game, which left a lot of spaces that Kaizer Chiefs exploited,

Manyama had a chance to break the deadlock with a free-kick just outside the box but his curling shot was saved by Kerrido towards the far post.

Anthony Akumu had his chance to break the deadlock after a cross by Khama Billiat towards the far post but his header missed wide at the far post.

PWD Bamenda were not allowing Amakhosi to have combination player but even themselves failed to combine

The game went into the break still deadlocked at 0 – 0

Leonardo Castro had a chance to break the deadlock after finding space inside the box but he dragged his left-footed shot narrowly wide.

Amakhosi will not play against Angolan giants Primeiro de Agosto in the first round.
