CAF : Volcan de Moroni hasn’t arrived at Mabhida
Kaizer Chiefs’ CAF Champions League opponents Volcan de Moroni have finally arrived in the country ahead of their preliminary round second leg fixture at Moses Mabhida this evening.
Kaizer Chiefs are still waiting for the arrival of their opponents Volcan de Moroni who are in the country but yet to arrive at Moses Mabhida stadium for the second leg of thier encounter.
The Match Commissioner moved the game to 19:30 tonight.
CAF rules state both teams are required to appear on the pitch before kickoff, after which 15 minutes later, if one opponent doesn’t pitch, the other are awarded the game.
Chiefs confirmed the news by announcing the arrival of their opponents from the Comoros Islands on Sunday afternoon.
“We are informed that the visiting team have arrived in JHB and are awaiting a flight to Durban,” read a statement from the club’s official twitter account.
“Kaizer Chiefs has done everything in our power to adhere to & facilitate the requirements of CAF & their appointed officials.”
“We are informed that the visiting team have arrived in JHB and are awaiting a flight 2 Durban.”
Around 17:00 The official twitter account of the team released a statement saying “visiting team has NOT arrived in Durban & the game was NOT going to be televised.”
The flight from Johannesburg to Durban takes approximately one hour and 15 minutes
