CAF : AS Vita edge Sundowns
South African club, Mamelodi Sundowns lost out to host AS Vita of DR Congo in a CAF Champions League 1st leg encounter in Kinshasa, DR Congo.
The visitors started well showing brilliance in the middle of the park, enjoying ball possession.
They looked sharp going forward and should have been a goal up in the first 30 minutes of the game but failed to convert their chance.
The hosts, AS Vita started showing their eagerness to win the game in the second half of the match when they went forward and nearly scored but Denis Onyango denied the host a chance to score.
A late goal by substitute Kule Mbombo sealed the win for the home side.
Mamelodi Sundowns will need to show their class in the 2nd leg when they will host the DR Congo club in two weeks.
A draw or lose will see the S.A club being knocked of the tournament.
The Brazilians will need to turn things around and force a 1-0 win to get to penalties or win by a 2-0 margin to advance through.
AS Vita will come in the game with an advantage and a draw will be enough for them to progress through to the next stage of Africa’s most prized club competition.
