PSL : Bucs break Arrows

Orlando Pirates started their 2016/2017 ABSA Premiership season with a bang after beating Golden Arrows 3-1 at Orlando stadium in Soweto.

Lerato Lamola should have scored for Abafana Besthende but saw his shot go off the target after a neat interchange between him and Nkanyiso Cele.

The first half ended in a stalemate.

Orlando Pirates came back from the change room with more effectiveness and started controlling the game with Oupa Manyisa fine display and passes.

Mpho Makola and Thabo Rakhale created problems for the Arrows defense but didn’t take the chance to go ahead as Rakhale’s shot went over the bar.

Man of the match and Orlando Pirates striker Tendai Ndoro scored his first goal in the 49th minutes to put Pirates in the lead after receiving a good pass from Thabo Rakhale.

Abafana Besthende equalized after a sloppy error from Filepe Ovono and leveled the score through Nduduzo Sibiya.

Ndoro made no mistake in the minute as he put the Buccaneers in front. The Zimbabwean scored his 3rd goal in the 76th minute to seal it for Bucs.

Pirates are currently sitting at the top of the log after registering am impressive win and looks sharp for their next encounter against a dangerous Bidvest Wits side which won their first league encounter against Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday.

The two clubs will log horns in an MTN8 quarter finals encounter on Saturday evening.
