Cavin Johnson Platinum Stars Coach, was not bothered with the loss to Orlando Pirates on the Bokone Bophirima Maize Cup on Saturday at Moruleng Stadium.
Dikwena are on the rebuilding phase with new players promoted to the Senior team, speaking to the media about combination of his new and old players. He had this to say “For what is worth, playing against Pirates at this time of the season gives you a good barometer as to the mentality, condition an tactical understanding of the players. I think we did well and even better on the second half. All respect to my younger players because Pirates were forced to play on their half, I brought in 6 under 19 players and still pushed Pirates to defend. Imagine when they start understanding what is like playing in the PSL, we will be a different team.” said Johnson.
When asked about areas to be corrected, he had this to say ” There’s areas to be corrected but the whole team was not here, we sent half of the team to play in Mpumalanga. For me is about the time the players got in the pitch and come the 24th of August when the we start our PSL campaign, that’s when I will know how they really compete.”
Platinum Stars Captain, Vuyo Mere played more in middle than his usual position, the ever charismatic coach expressed his happiness about seeing Vuyo performing well”Vuyo will be playing in the middle,he comes with great experience. He can hold the ball and distribute very well. Siphiwe, the young player we brought in, is a very talented player and played very well. That will be his new position, we can only bring Vuyo back when a need be.” he concluded
