PSL : SuperSport United humiliate Pirates
SuperSport United humiliated Orlando Pirates 6-1 at Mbombela stadium in Nelspruit in a thrilling PSL encounter that saw Pirates fans left with not much to say.
The match saw Orlando Pirates head coach Muhsin Ertugral stating on national TV that he will speak to the club chairman and hand in his resignation and believes they don’t deserve to wear the club jersey of such a big club.
SuperSport United scored 6 goals in second half to hand Orlando Pirates their first defeat of the 2016/2017 ABSA Premiership campaign.
Goals by Reneiloe Letshonyane, Thuso Phala, a brace from Michael Boxall, Bradley Grobler and Jeremy Brockie handed Matsantsantsa a win over the Buccaneers.
Pirates started the game well attacking and leading PSL top goals scorer Tendai Ndoro put Pirates ahead in the 1st half after receiving a well timed pass from Thabo Rakhale and made no mistake as he put the visitors ahead before half time.
SuperSport came back from the changing room gun blazing and leveled matters through Reneiloe Letsholonyane’s goal and then score two more within 5 minutes to lead Pirates 3-1 after Michael Boxhall and Thuso Phala scored respectively.
Boxhall made no mistake as he scored his brace to put Matsantsantsa 4-1.
Bradley added his name to the score sheet to put United 5-1 ahead. Pirates were handed a penalty which Ndoro failed to convert as Ronwen Williams put a save to his penalty attempt.
New Zealand strike rounded off the scoring to hand Pirates their worst defeat since 1990 humiliation since they were defeated to Sundowns with the same margin.
