Bidvest Wits beat Mamelodi Sundowns 3-0 in a thrilling MTN8 final in Nelspruit at Mbombela stadium to win the 8million prize money competition.

Bidvest Wits started the game in a blistering way as they attacked from the first blow of the whistle and scored an early goal in 45 second.
The Students should have been 2-0 up in the first 5 minutes but Elias Pelembe shot went wide off the target after receiving a perfect pass from Daine Klate. A brave decision by Daine Klate in the 20tj minute to try and connect with a cross from Thabang Monare resulted in a goal as Eleazer Rodgers capitalized after a miscue from Denis Onyango as he putted a loose ball into the net to put Wits ahead 2-0.
Mamelodi Sundowns started playing afterwards and were dominant but their efforts were not much convincing as Bidvest Wits goalkeeper Darren Keet kept it clean to lead his side into the halftime leading 2-0.

Pitso Mosimane charges started the second half with intentions to take the game to Wits and Yannick Zakri should have pulled one as early as 2 minutes into the second half but saw his header go wide off the post. Gabadinho Mhango who was having a game of his lifetime always kept pressure on Sundowns every time he had the ball as he blasted with pace with Hlompho Kekana keeping him at bay. Bidvest were battling with former Bidvest Wits paler as he put pressure on the Wits defense.
A nice interchange pass from Sibusiso Vilakazi and Khama Billiat in the 56th minute saw Darren Keet put a beautiful save after Tiyani Mabunda connected well with Khama’s cross only for his header denied to be saved by Keet.
Bidvest Wits capitalized on a defense error by Mamelodi Sundowns, Eleazer Rodger counter attacked and laid a perfect pass for Daine Klate to score his second goal of the match and put The Students 3-0 up. Thabang Monare nearly scored his first for Wits in the 65th minute as he leashed a shot from 35 yards and saw his shot saved by Onyango. Elias Pelembe should have scored as well in the 66th minute after he beat the Downs defense but his shot was off target. Bidvest Wits brought in Sifiso Myeni for more creativity in the middle of the park. Downs kept pushing and brought in Percy Tau in the 75th minutes for Asevile Mbekile but Gavin Hunt charges succumbed to the pressure. Eleazer Rodger should have scored his second in the 88th minute after he received a perfect pass from Sifiso Myeni and shot straight into Denis Onyango hands with only the keeper to beat. Gavin Hunt substituted Rodgers for Cuthbeth Malatjila in the 80th minute to put more pressure on the Downs defense. Wits come back kid Sifiso Myeni should have added one for Wits after receiving a distinctive pass from Xola Mlambo but saw his shot go into the side net. Xola Mlambo and teammates started giving Sundowns a football lessons they entertained the crowd with skill in towards the end of the game with the fans supporters loving the flair. Keegan Dolly received a yellow card 30 seconds away from the end of the match as he showed frustration and the match ended 3-0 to Wits.
