SAFA : Bafana Bafana arrive in Uyo and can’t wait for Saturday’s game
Bafana Bafana have arrived and settled well in Uyo despite a gruelling journey that saw them arrive in the oil-rich Nigerian State around lunchtime.
They then had to take a 40-minute drive to the Hotel which they are sharing with the Super Eagles; their opponents in Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations clash in this laid back metropolitan (Kick Off 15h00).
In a bid to preserve energy, coach Stuart Baxter decided against having a full blown session in stifling heat, rather settling for set pieces and some strategic light training sessions.
“What I have liked about this group of players is their fantastic attitude and energy. You can see this group of players want to do great things for their country and are intent on leaving a lasting impression,” said Baxter upon arriving at the Meridien Hotel.
The Men’s Senior National Team mentor insisted that the much talked about time frame of preparations will have no bearing on the final outcome of the game insisting he was working with professionals who didn’t need to be taught the football basics.
“I am enjoying my game again and if picked for Saturday’s game, I will welcome the challenge. I believe in hard work and that has always been the basis of my game,” he said.
