PSL : Tinkler unhappy with the Performance but happy with the three points
Orlando Pirates beat Bloemfontein Celtics 1 – 0 at Lafarge Orlando Stadium on Saturday night.
Orlando Pirates won their second game in a row and for the first time this season maintained their position in the top 8.
With nine games to go Orlando Pirates will be looking to keep their record of not being outside the top eight.
Orlando Pirates kept most of the line up that started against Mpumalanga Black Aces.
Many would have expected that Tendai Ndoro to start ahead of Lehlohonolo Majoro after a great performance against Aces.
Orlando Pirates secured the three point courtesy of a solitary goal by Mpho Makola’s free kick with the help of a deflation.
Olrando Pirates mentor Eric Tinkler shared the following after the game….
“I’m not entirely happy with the performance. We knew it would be a tough game vs a team in a difficult situation”
“I felt they were better than us in the 1st half. Our movement was very poor. They carried alot of momentum in the 1st half”
“I’m happy with how we picked up in the 2nd half but what’s important is to look at the negatives & try to fix that”
“We now play 1 game a week & so it gives us time to fully assess where we’re at after each game”
“I felt it was important to give Majoro game time from the start but I’m also happy with Tendai’s contribution.”
“Majoro worked harder tonight, I was happy with his performance”
When asked about the performance of the four representatives in the CAF inter-club competition he had this to say
“Its not great that our name isn’t in CAF but it feels good knowing that our performance has opened the door for other teams”
“We opened two spots so we want the teams to do well so that maybe we can even have a 3rd spot in the future. That’s most ideal”
“We want our teams to do well in CAF. But we prefer they wait for us to win the 2nd star before they add their own.
