PSL Promotion Play-Offs : Its all systems go

National First Division sides Mbombela United and Highlands Park kick off the 2015/ 16 promotion-relegation play-offs when they clash at the Kanyamazane Stadium on Wednesday 25 May, 15H00 kick off.

Also involved in the play-offs are AmaTuks, who finished second last in the Absa Premiership. The University of Pretoria’s first game is on Sunday 29 May, when they host Mbombela United.

Mbombela, who finished third, have been in the NFD for only one season, while Highlands Park were promoted from the Second Division only two seasons ago, and were runners-up to Baroka FC this season.

Going into Wednesday’s showdown, both teams have been in fine form: Mbombela have won their last four matches, while Highlands Park have three wins and a draw from their last five outings in the NFD.

And both sides have not been shy in front of goal this season, Tingwenyama scoring 42 goals, Highlands Park 43. With 18 goals conceded, the Lions of the North let in five fewer than the Mpumalanga club.

There has been nothing to separate the sides in head-to-head battles this season, having played to 0-0 and 2-2 draws in the NFD.

Victor Shongwe and Sifiso Thomo have top scored for Tingwenyama with five goals each, while Jermaine Christian leads the way with eight for Allan Freese’s side.
