PSL : Orlando Pirates parts ways with Phungwayo
Orlando Pirates have parted ways with left-back Patrick Phungwayo after a mutual agreement was reached
The 29-year-old Bafana-capped full-back spent five seasons with the Buccaneers after joining from Bidvest Wits ahead of the 2012/13 campaign.
The website statement read as follows
” Orlando Pirates Football Club has parted ways with Patrick Phungwayo.
An agreement has been reached for the mutual termination of the contract following a meeting between both parties yesterday [Monday]..
The Club would like to thank Mr Phungwayo for his service and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.”
Phungwayo did not feature for the Sea Robbers in a competitive match this season. There has been no indication as to where he will play next.
Phungwano didn’t have a great 2016/17 season and since the arrival of Maela who has already claimed the left back position and Matlaba it seems like the won’t be room for Boka as he is known.
The first indication that he could be out was when his 2016/17 jersey number “21” was given to the new arrival Sangweni.
