PSL : Maritzburg gets first win over Tuks
A goal by Evans Rusike in the first half handed Maritzburg United their first Absa Premiership victory this season as they beat University of Pretoria 1-0 at the Tuks Stadium on Sunday.
As early as the seventh minute the home side showed real hunger and it was Thabo Mnyamane who took his chance but his shot missed the target.
In the 12th minute the KwaZulu-Natal side took the lead with a goal from Evans Rusike after an assist from came from Mohammed Anas.
Three minutes later Thabo Mnyamane produced a cross which found Atusaye Nyondo but Tawfeeq Salie made a good save to deny Hartog, who also went close when his left footed shot went wide of goal.
Within the space of two minutes, Tuks had two opportunities which Khethukuthula Zwane and Luyanda Bacela both missed in the 38th and 39th minutes respectively.
In the dying minutes of the first half Tuks came back hard to search for an equalizer as Partson Jaure pulled off a shot but Tawfeeq Salie managed to save it.
In the second half Bacela tried to get a goal and put his team back in the game but Tawfeeq Salie was well alert. Atusaye Nyondo also pulled off a good shot in the 73rd minute but it missed the target.
Partson Jaure came close towards the end of the game, but Salie ensured that the visitors recorded their first victory this season.
