PSL : Manyisa return imminent
After missing in action for more than five months due to a fractured ankle, the Absa Premiership should soon be graced once more by one of the PSL’s most talented midfielders, Oupa Manyisa.
The Bafana Bafana playmaker and Buccaneers skipper has not played since he hurt himself in a goal-less draw against Polokwane City on September 22 last year.
Manyisa says the support that he has been given has made the absence slightly easier to bare, and that he is now edging closer to a come-back.
“Since playing professional football, this is the first injury that has kept me out for this long. But I’ve had friends and family supporting me, so it hasn’t been too difficult.
“I’ve been doing rehab, and I’m feeling much stronger now because as I can do some of the things I couldn’t do before. Soon I’ll be back,” said the 27-year-old.
Club rehabilitation specialist Stephen Plummer says that the player could be available selection within the next couple of weeks:
“Manyisa has been through a lengthy process so far, but is doing really well and is actually ahead of schedule with his rehab. He’s a really hard worker and puts in a lot of effort.
“If everything goes according to plan, we expect him to be ready by the end of February/ beginning of March where he’ll then be able to join training with the team,” he explained to PiratesTV.
