PSL : Mamelodi born Thokozani Sekotlong joins Mamelodi Sundowns
Mamelodi born Thokozani Sekotlong joins the Brazilians on a five-year deal
The 26-year-old Sekotlong with Free State Stars contract came to an end and both parties decided not to renew, so he joins as a free agent
Sekotlong has played for Maritzburg United and the University of Pretoria just to name a few.
The Mamelodi born striker was on trials for two weeks with the Pretoria side and impressed the technical team
The Brazilians main striker Leonardo Castro sustained an injury that affected his scoring abilities and since then he has never been the same. The Columbian has been home while waiting for the birth of his child.
Sekotlong is the third player from Mamelodi to join the Brazilians after George Lebese and Lucky Mohomi so it seems like Sundowns are on a home coming exercise.
“Joining Mamelodi Sundowns is a dream come true for me because I have supported this team all my life, so does my family,” Sekotlong told the Sundowns website on Thursday.
“I hope I can add to the success of the team and also score more goals.”
His arrival at Chloorkop could be seen as a back-up for Zimbabwean star Khama Billiat, who has refused to sign a new contract.
Jingles has made it clear that he wants Jeremy Brockie but that is proofing to be mission impossible in his team
With Khama Billiat not willing to sign a new contract Sekotlong could be viewed as his replacement
