PSL : Lesufi speaks at Swallows FC Indaba

Moroka Swallows will campaign in the Premier League as Swallow FC.

IMG-20160717-WA0013Moroka Swallows will remain in the ABC Motsepe League, this was said today by Mr Panyaza Lesufi at a meeting held  Ipelegeng Centre in Soweto, on sunday.

MEC of Education, Panyaza Lesufi who is part of the consortium that own 96 % of Moroka Swallows attended the meeting to address the Swallows supporters.

Mr Lesufi who started the meeting by apologizing to more than 5000 supporters who attended the meeting by expressing that he started at church to ask God to guide him. The fans chanted and started singing a song to thank him for bringing back the beautiful birds back to the elite league and back to the supporters.

He addressed the fans and thanked them for sticking by the team when the going was tough. He then stated the agenda of the meeting.

He stated that the club is now owned 100% by South Africans and that this is going to be the first club to allow fans to own shares. He furthermore stated that the journey started 23 month ago and they are happy that Free State Stars approached them that they can’t have a club with such rich history to be at the bottom. He stated that the PSL gave the club 72 hours to submit their final presentation which they asked the PSL to give them till Wednesday as they have to address, shareholders, players, management and the supporters before concluding the deal.

He then stated that the club will have two teams and they are not going to lose the name Moroka Swallows and also they can’t have two clubs use one name. He stated that the club was in a financial crisis and that the monthly PSL allowance will go towards the ABC Motsepe campaigners and to pay the garnish that has been handed out to Moroka Swallows. He then stated that they met with all the stake holders of the club to address issues that need to be ironed before the Birds 1st game in August.

Mr Lesufi then spoke of the name to be used when the league commences. The PSL campaigners will be known as Swallows FC and in due time they will have the right back.

He then stated that the club would like to thank other big club bosses who sat down with them and asked them to bring back the glory days at Swallows and they can’t afford to have the club go down, come back and then go down. The club bosses will loan or give Swallows players who will compete against the best in the league. The club will now compete against the best and will buy quality players.

Former players will not have pay to go watch Swallows play and the club will grow its fan base. The club is going to use two stadiums, Dobsenville stadium and for big games the club will use Ellis Park stadium. The club will introduce a new logo, club kit, sponsors and management by Wednesday.

He then stated that the club will then call the supporters to give them feedback before the PSL commences to celebrate the coming back of the club in top flight. He followed by stating that the club has to take back it’s place in the derby as the original derby against Pirates. He asked the fans to come in numbers to support the club and when they meet Pirates it is found to be war and they can’t wait to play the Mighty Ghost.

Panyaza then spoke of how the club can turn things around and that is by asking God to lead them.

Sipho Xulu, was met by unhappy supporters who shouted that they want him out of the club and that he is one of the reason that the club is in this state.

He bolstered that former players who once don the famous maroon and white jersey need to come back and help in order to unearth talent. Joel ‘Ace’ Mnini who was among the numbers of former players was chanted with songs and that the club need loyal players like him and Andries Chaka Chaka Mpondo’who will wear the club jersey with pride.
