PSL : Kjell Jonevret tenders in his resignation

Kjell Jonevret has resigned as Orlando Pirates coach, saying, unfortunately, it didn’t work out as planned

Kjell Jonevret has resigned as head coach of Orlando Pirates after less than six months at the helm.

The Swedish took over the reins from caretaker boss Augusto Palacios who was a caretaker coach after Muhsin Ertugral quit the team in November 2016 in the wake of a 6-1 thrashing by SuperSport United.

Ertugal resigned live on Television after his team was thrashed 6-1 by SuperSport United in Mbombela, after leading 0-1 at half tie.

For the first time since the PSL inception has Orlando Pirates finished outside the Top 8 of the log as they finished 11th in the league in 2016/17

Kjell Jonevret Orlando Pirates record  (18 MATCHES): 6 wins, 7 draws & 5 losses.

‘Mr Jonevret has thanked the chairman of Orlando Pirates, Dr Irvin Khoza, the club and its supporters for giving him an opportunity to coach the club.’

Jonevret said: “I would like to thank the club for the opportunity. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out as planned. I wish the club and its supporters all the best for the future.”

Club chairman Irvin Khoza said: “I wish Kjell Jonevret well in his future endeavours.”

Former Uganda and Orlando Pirates coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic is rumoured to be taking over from Kjell

Micho has recently resigned from the Cranes and was spotted in Melrose as it’s rumoured he arrived in South Africa on Sunday
