PSL : Jeremy Brockie extends his contract with Supersport United
Jeremy Brockie stole the night yesterday at Supersport United Awards and capped it all off with the contract extension announcement.
Jeremy Brockie won Player of the season and Top goal scorer.
The New Zealander scored 18 goals in the 2015/16 season to take his total tally to 28 goals
He has represented New Zealand at senior international level, including the 2010 FIFA World Cup and at the 2008 Olympic Games.
Brockie arrived at SuperSport in style, scoring the only and winning goal against the former Mpumalanga Black Aces F.C. in his first game
After a stint with the Wellington Phoenix, Brockie headed for South Africa at the beginning of 2015 and hasn’t looked back. Not only has he enjoyed career-best form on the field, his family are settled and enjoying their new home.
“I came here very open minded and was only focused on the present and trying to settle in as quickly as possible.
“My family and I and very settled in this beautiful country. It’s very cheap to live and the weather is amazing. I’m here I want to stay as long as possible and be a success here in South Africa.” he said
Brockie took to twitter to express his joy and share the good news with Supersport United fans
“What a night, thanks for all the kind messages. I’m thrilled to announce I’ve signed a 4 year extension to my contract with Supersport United FC”
“I’ve enjoyed every minute of my time with Supersport United FC and I hope to lift more silverware and keep scoring goals in the colour of blue.”
Jeremy Brockie has revealed that he spurned a “big offer” from another club in South Africa, believed to be Premier Soccer League champions Mamelodi Sundowns, to stick with SuperSport United.
“I had some interest from abroad but I had no intentions of leaving this country,”
“There was a big offer from another club here in SA but SuperSport came to me with a new deal and I was happy to stay and build on the last 18 months; scoring more goals and winning more trophies.”
“I’ve done very well here since my arrival and want to continue to build on what we’ve started. It’s been a long time since someone has broke the 20 goal a season mark and I believe I can get that after going close with 18 last season.
“We have assembled a very good squad here this season and I want to challenge for the league.
“The squad we have it is very possible and also challenge for the other three trophies up for grabs.” he concluded
