PSL : Highlands Park shares spoils with Free State stars
Highlands Park were forced to share points with the visiting Free State Stars on Sunday at Makhulong in Tembisa.
The home team made its objectives clear in the first ten minutes of the game, as Edwin Stayitayi registered the first goal in the 6th minute from a cross which found him alone, all he had to do was to tab the ball to the back of the net.
In the 26 minutes Stars tried to intensify the pressure on the home side as Sekola took a long range shot outside the box but it went wide.
Stars were also forced to make a substitution when Sifiso Mbhele got injured, Armand Ella Ken was introduced
Stars were once again denied a clear scoring goal opportunity when Mvala Mthobi intercepted the ball which could have landed on the Stars man.
Danny Venter could have equalized before the half time break from a free kick but his shot went over goal posts
After half time the visiting side looked much better from their build ups but lacked the final touch towards the box.
Thapelo Mathibe who came as a sub extended the lead for the home team.
However the visiting side were showing more sense of urgency
Thokozani Sekotlong pulled one back for Yalla Kota.
Highlands Park introduced Chalrton Mashumba as a way of protecting their lead by attacking and hopefully scoring the assurance goal.
However Stars kept on probing and they stole a point in the 93 minutes from the five minutes added time by Victor Hlungwani.
The substitute Armand Ella Kern’s free kick gave Tapiwa Kapini no chance and the spoils had to be shared.
