PSL : Downs to begin title defense away to Maritzburg United

Absa Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns will travel to Maritzburg to start their defense of the ABSA Premiership title against Maritzburg United tonight at 7:30 at the stadium.


The Champions will look into starting the season with a win against a team that survived relegation at the last minutes last season.

While Maritzburg United will want to do well against a side that boost quality players and to start collecting points from the start of the season.

Maritzburg United will bank their hope on new signing Fileccia from Free State Stars.

The striker was prominent last seasons and that led to former coach Ernst Middendorp to lure the striker to follow him to Maritzburg.

Middendorp was the one who brought the strike to the PSL when he signed the quick paced striker at Free State Stars.

Kurt Lentjies , Manti Mekoa and Abia Nale will battle it out in the middle of the park against the likes of Hlompho Kekana, Teko Modise, Anthony Laffor to win the game for Maritzburg United.

Mamelodi Sundowns will be without the injured Leonardo Castro who sustained an injury when Downs took on SuperSport United in the MTN8 quarter finals.

While Mario Booysen, Tebogo Langerman, Nascimento Ricardo and Siyanda Zwane will need to stop the Maritzburg United strikers in preventing them from scoring against Denis Onyango.
