PSL clarifies trophy handover

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) together with league sponsors, Absa have announced logistics around the Absa Premiership Trophy handover.

PSL CEO Brand de Villiers confirmed that the Absa Premiership Trophy will be handed to the champions on the last weekend of the 2014/15 Absa Premiership season, Saturday afternoon 09 May 2015.

The League also confirmed that the last two block fixtures of the Absa Premiership on Wednesday, 06 May 2015 and Satu inrday, 09 May 2015 will be played simultaneously. Kick-off for Wednesday night fixtures will be 19h30 while Saturday’s fixture.

De Villiers commented: “The PSL, in consultation with our sponsors, Absa, have decided to hand over the trophy at the last fixture of the club that will emerge as champions KOof the Absa Premiership on 09 May 2015.

This means that even if a club has mathematically won the Absa Premiership before Saturday, 09 May 2015, they will not be handed the trophy until their last match.”

The PSL has prepared for all scenarios for the last weekend of the 2014/15 Absa Premiership should the championship race go to the last fixture of the Absa Premiership.
