PSL : Citizens chase first win of the 2017/2018 PSL season

Cape Town City travels to Gauteng in Johannesburg to face Bidvest Wits in the first match of the ABSA Premiership 2017/2018 season

The encounter will see Benni McCarthy take charge of his first game in the PSL era for the first time as head coach since being appointed head coach after the departure of Eric Tinkler.

The Citizens as the Cape club is known have had a successful start to the season win 1-0 to book a place in the MTN 8 Wafa-Wafa competition.

The coach o Cape Town City has expressed that he is happy with the team he has so far and looks forward to the season ahead.

He furthermore stated that he is grateful for the chance the chairman has shown in him and will look to build a team that will compete for honours this season.

The Citizens could also give former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teko Modise his debut at his new club.

The club technical team had included Modise in the first line up for their clash against Polokwane City in the MTN8 quarter final clash but the midfielder sustained an injury while the team did their warm up.

The club has signed quality players to replace the likes of Bhongolwethu Jayiya who joined Kaizer Chiefs.

They also have current PSL Player of the season Lebogang Manyama who had a tremendous season last season. The Alexandra born player also scooped the PSL 2016/2017 Top Goal Scorer award.
