PSL : BLOEM CELTIC OUT TO UPSET CHIEFS
Bloemfontein Celtic will want to hand Kaizer Chiefs their first 2017/18 Absa Premiership loss when they meet on Sunday at the Free State Stadium, Kick-off is at 15:00.
Celtic are at home and that will be a huge motivator as they want to beat Amakhosi to ensure their campaign begins on a high.
Under a new coach, Veselin Jelusic, the hosts will want to start collecting points as early as possible to avoid seeing themselves as relegation candidates.
Having also signed new players such as Ndumiso Mabena and Lucky Baloyi, Siwelele will be a different side compared to their previous season which was disastrous.
On the other hand, the Naturena-based club is out to rectify their errors after losing 1-0 to SuperSport United in the MTN8 Cup quarter-final having dominated the proceedings last weekend.
Coach Steve Komphela will want to see his men being aggressive, clinical and hungry as they will want to collect their first three points.
“We are looking forward to a good game. You know this will never be a good time to play in front of our home crowd,” said Maduka.
“We saw Kaizer Chiefs in the games that they played, the MTN8 Cup against SuperSport, I think they were just unlucky to lose because they were dominant in the match.
“However, we also want to make our mark because we have signed good players, they had pre-season with us and that is a plus for us.
“We want a positive out of the match, a good result and with the new players in the team, we strongly believe we are capable of getting a good result to kick off our season.”
“We played well in our friendlies against Orlando Pirates, Township Rollers and we are happy so far – we also added new players who will definitely add value,” said Khune.
“For us this season, we need to be clinical in front of goal because we have been playing good football, but just giving away silly goals.
“We couldn’t find the back of the net against SuperSport and we were knocked out of the MTN8. We have to score if we want to win games.
“For us who have played for Kaizer Chiefs for many years, going for two seasons with no gold medal is a shame and we must fight harder and get things back to normal.”
