PSL : Another brace for Ndoro as Pirates beat Arrows

Tendai Ndoro scored a first half brace to guide 10-man Orlando Pirates to a 4-1 Absa Premiership win over Golden Arrows at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.


The Zimbabwe international completed his double from the penalty spot after Luvuyo Memela scored his first league goal of the season. Nduduzo Sibiya found the back of the net for the hosts after Lehlogonolo Masalesa saw red for the Buccaneers.

Issa Sarr made sure of the result in second-half stoppage time with a crisp strike.

Victory closes the gap between Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs to two points. The Amakhosi are in league action this evening.

Pirates have been getting off to good starts of late and continued the trend – Ndoro opening the scoring after 13 minutes. After Sifiso Myeni won back position for Pirates, Ntsikelelo Nyauza slipped in Ndoro who provided a cool finish.

The visitors doubled their lead eight minutes later. Masalesa with a superb through ball to pick out Memela who finished with aplomb.

Ndoro made it 3-0 from 12 yards on the cusp of halftime. The referee awarded Pirates a penalty kick after Siyabonga Dube fouled Thabo Matlaba inside the area – Ndoro duly stepped up to score his ninth goal in eight appearances across all competitions.

Arrows came out firing after the break with Kwanele Hlongwane unlucky to see his shot canon off the post.

The KwaZulu-Natal side were then handed a major boost with Masalesa seeing red in the 53rd minute – the midfielder sent off for a second bookable offence, four minutes after receiving his first booking.

Arrows took full advantage of the sending off and pulled a goal back through Sibiya in the 64th minute: the midfielder latching onto a through ball by Deon Hotto.

Pirates, though, made sure of the result in second-half stoppage time with Issa Sarr finding the back of the net via the underside of the crossbar. Defeat for Abafana Bes’thende extends their winless run in the league to four matches.
