Pirates share spoils with Polokwane City|
Orlando Pirates hosted Polokwane City in thrilling match that saw both teams score one goal a piece to salvage a draw. Both goals were scored in the 2nd half of the match with Pirates scoring the equalizer through on loan player Dove Wome. This was Wome’s second goal since joining Pirates in the transfer window.
Pirates started off good and showed the hunger to win the game for their fans as they still searching for a win in 2017. Mobara and club captain Oupa Manyisa controlled the match well giving the likes of veteran midfielder Jabulani Maluleke a hard time in the middle of the park. Sipho Jembula had a blind chance in the 1st half that could have put the visitors ahead but his shot went off the goal post. Current PSL leading goal scorer Tendai Ndoro laid a good pass to Mpho Makola towards the end of the first half who took a great curler only for Polokwane City to concede a corner.
Polokwane City played better in the second half but saw Pirates invade their half only to concede a goal and equalize. The Buccaneers brought in Thamsanqa Gabuza for Tendai Ndoro to put much more needed fire power. The hefty striker could had a clear chance after receiving a through pass only to rule himself offside. Sipho Jembula could have been the hero of the day when he ran passed three Pirates defender only to to see his shot being saved by Brighton Mhlongo as it lacked power.
Rise and Shine grabbed the opener through Rodney Ramagalele in the last 20 minutes off the match. Both teams searched for a winner but their efforts were not converted.
