NFD: Top scorer nears 20 goal mark
A look at the latest NFD scoring charts shows Baroka FC striker Thabiso Kutumela to be way out in front of the chasing pack.
16 Goals: Thabiso Kutumela has been in sensational goal-scoring form this season, his 16 goals in 20 matches a prolific return in anybody’s book. With nine games to go, there is every chance the 22-year-old will reach the magical 20 goal mark.
9 Goals: Siyanda Ngubo (Royal Eagles), Siyabonga Nomvethe (AmaZulu) and Cleopas Dube are all on nine goals.
Nomvethe has scored three of his goals at Swallows, in 12 games, adding a further six in only seven games after moving to AmaZulu, the veteran in prolific form in 2016.
Down the road at fellow KZN club Royal Eagles, Ngubo has also been in scintillating form this year, six of his nine goals coming in 2016.
Dube has netted nine of his three goals this year, the rest coming in 2015, the Zimbabwean looking to regain his form after not scoring for the last three matches.
7 Goals: Nkosinathi Ndlovu (Baroka FC)
6 Goals: Siphiwe Gwala (FC Cape Town), Jermaine Christian (Highlands Park), Mbulelo Wambi (Vasco da Gama), Suhayl Allie (Santos) and Maboke Matlakala (FC Cape Town).
