NFD: Sunday Match Wrap
Baroka FC reclaimed pole position, while Milano United moved to within a point of the top three after the two sides recorded victory in Sunday’s National First Division action.
AmaZulu 0-1 Baroka FC
AmaZulu had some good early chances at the Princess Magogo Stadium, Siyabonga Nomvethe going close on 12 minutes when his shot was cleared off the line. More opportunities followed for both teams, but it proved to be a scoreless first half.
Usuthu could have gone ahead 11 minutes after the break when they were awarded a penalty, but Marc van Heerden was of target from the spot. They were made to pay, just three minutes later, when Sphamandla Sangweni beat Energy Murambadoro on 59 minutes for what turned out to be the match winner in KZN.
Milano United 2-0 African Warriors
Boebie Solomons’ side made it eight wins from nine games and moved to fourth spot with their victory at Athlone. Gregory Roelf scored the first goal, beating the offside trap and keeping his cool to find the net on 21 minutes. The lead was doubled when Nasief Morris struck with a superbly taken free kick on 52 minutes, the visiting side creating chances to get back into the game, but failing to capitalise.
