Eagles’ promotion hopes suffered a setback when they lost in Cape Town, the home side scoring in each half – Stanley Muishond netting in the opening half before Jarrod Moroole made it 2-0 after the break.
Baroka FC 1-0 Witbank Spurs – Old Peter Mokaba Stadium
The only goal of what had been a tight game came around 10 minutes from time, Ayanda Jwara coming off the bench to secure the vital three points which keep Baroka three points above Highlands Park and knock Spurs out of the top three.
Cape Town All Stars 2-0 FC Cape Town – Athlone Stadium
The home side started strongly, going in front after 11 minutes when Paseka Mako capitilised on some uncertain defending. The lead was doubled on 33 minutes when Thembinkosi Lorch’s shot was deflected, the ball just crossing over the line. The African Beasts pushed hard for a goal in the second half, but could not break down a well-organised Igugu Lekapa defence.
Mbombela United 5-3 African Warriors – Kanyamazane Stadium
Lebogang Maboe (9th minute) opened proceedings before Thamsanqa Ngema leveled it in the 20th minute. Bheki Malida (25th) put Mbombela back in front, only for Bonginkosi Nxumalo to make it 2-2 with his 39ht minute goal.
Victor Shongwe put the Mpumalanga side in the lead when he scored from the penalty spot 10 minutes into the second half. The fourth goal was added 12 minutes from time, Siyethemba Mnguni doing the business before Mlungisi Nkosi got goal number five in the 82nd minute. Mzwandile Qwela got a late consolation for the Free State side when he scored in the 93rd minute.
Highlands Park 2-0 Black Leopards – Makhulong Stadium
A goal from Samukelo Nkosi ensured a first half lead for the Lions of the North. Mothobi Mvala registered in the second stanza in Tembisa, keeping Highlands within three points of Baroka.
