Ngubane will take charge of Igugu Lekapa’s fortunes with immediate effect and will set about readying the team for this Saturday’s (April 9, 2016) clash with Royal Eagles at the Athlone Stadium.

Ngubane will take over from the current coaching team of Jerobeam Koert and Aschwin Sutton, who had been assisting the club in a caretaker capacity.

Stars CEO, Elasto Kapoweza, is optimistic about the new appointment: “We are happy to confirm that Mlungisi Ngubane has been appointed as the new Cape Town All Stars coach.

“We feel that we have found the perfect candidate for the position, due to his vast experience in this division, and the footballing philosophy he employs. We are confident that Mr Ngubane will lead the club in the direction we want to be going – challenging for promotion to the PSL.

“We would like to sincerely thank the previous coaching team, Jerobeam Koert and Aschwin Sutton, who were at the club in a caretaker role, for all their hard work and efforts and wish them the very best for their future endeavours,” said Kapoweza.

The Durban-born Ngubane is renowned as one of the best coaches in the National First Division, and has previously coached at clubs such as Thanda Royal Zulu, Nathi Lions, Golden Arrows, Chippa United, Maritzburg United, Black Leopards and Durban Bush Bucks, where he was a legend in his own playing days. He has also had a stint in charge of the Namibia national team.
