NFD : Milano United make Royal Eagles drop 3 points while NFD rockies draw

The NFD promotion run is heating up, who will gain promotion and who will play playoffs?

With ten games to the end of the season its anyone’s game. At one stage it appeared that Baroka FC was running away with the leg but their lost five points, The points difference between the log leaders Baroka and position eight placed Amazulu is twelve points.

Milano United were the big winners on Sunday as they moved to within three points of the NFD play-off zone following a 2-0 win over Royal Eagles at Athlone.

Milano United win means they are not tied with Royal Eagles on 35 points and are not in position four and three points behind third place Highlands Park.

The next couple of fixtures will see the top eight coming against each other to try and consolidate their position on the log or maintain it. The Baroka FC vs Highlands Park game will be a final before a final. The match will take place on the 27th February 2016 at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Milano 2-0 Royal Eagles

The Kinnes were in front after only three minutes when Gregory Roelf pounced to score from close range. It was 2-0 in the 32nd minute when Junaid Sait got on the end of Coldrin Coetzee’s delivery. The hosts saw off some pressure from Eagles in the second half to keep a clean sheet.

AmaZulu 1-1 Santos

After a goal-less opening 45 minutes at the Princess Magogo Stadium, AmaZulu drew first blood when Siyabonga Nomvethe converted from the penalty spot in the 65th minute after a hand-ball in the box. But the Cape side were not to go home empty handed, Mhlengi Sigwebela levelling 15 minutes from time with a powerful left-footed effort that beat Sage Stephens.

Mthatha Bucks 1-1 Mbombela United

Cohen Stander gave Mbombela a third minute lead when he tapped in from close range. Moses Spandeel was then denied by visiting keeper Thato Xaba. But it was Spandeel who provided the assist for Amathol’anmyama’s equaliser, which came via Samkelo Ndletyana’s 39th minute header at the Mthatha Stadium in a game between the two rookie NFD clubs.
