Orlando Pirates will take on SuperSport United in the Nedbank Knockout Challenge cup final at the Peter Mokaba stadium in Polokwane. This will be the first time the province host the final of the tournament.

The Buccaneers are looking to add the 2016 Nedbank trophy into their trophy cabinet with Supersport looking to cause an upset to the Bucs faithful. The clubs played to a 2-all draw in their last encounter to finish the season in the Top 8 with Pirates occupying position 7 and Matsatsantsa completing the last Top 8 spot.

Orlando Pirates last tasted the Nedbank Cup victory as winners in 2014 with SuperSport having won it the last time in 2012. Pirates have enjoyed the better of the Nedbank in the last 5 years with 2 Cup victories. The won the 2011 championship 3-1 over Black Leopards and beat BidVest Wits with the same margin in 2014. SuperSport United victory came at the hands of their home rivals Mamelodi Sundowns in 2012 winning the match 2-0 to be crowned champions.

Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have each won the trophy twice since it was renamed the Nedbank from being the ABSA  Cup. Bucs come into the match as favorites and their squad is ready to tackle the hard tackling Matsatsantsa- A –Pitori. The winners of the trophy will represent South Africa in season CAF Confederations Cup.

The likes of Edwin Gyima, Happy Jele  and Thabo Matlaba in the Bucs defense will need to stop Brockie, Thuso Phala and Bradley Grobler if they are to come out victorious on Saturday after. The match will be contested in the middle of the park with Issa Sarr , Mpho Makola Sifiso Myeni battles it out with the likes of Bafana midfielder Dean Furman, Michael Morton and Brockie in what could be a decider in the encounter.
