MTN 8 : Hunt raided Cape Town City FC, 1st Semi Final

Gavin Hunt’s side Bidvest Wits is now one leg into Mtn8 final after beating Eric Tinkler’s side Cape Town City FC 3-0 at Bidvest stadium on Saturday night

thwdqngo11Goals from Eleazar Rodgers, Elias Pelembe and Gabadinho Mhango ensured Bidvest Wits won the first leg against Cape Town City in the MTN8 semi-final first-leg at Bidvest Stadium

Bidvest Wits should have won by an avalanche of goals as they enjoyed huge ball possession for the entire game

The first 15minutes the home team struggled to gain control of the game though created few chances as Mhango failed to convert created chances

On 21st minute Ghabadhino Mhango cross from the right picked up Eleazar Rodgers down the left in the box

He easily slotted it home from the far corner, beating Shu-Aib Walters to Bidvest Wits Upfront

17 minutes later Bidvest Wits were back at it again

Daine Klate capitalized after Cape Town City FC failed cleared a corner

Klate picked Pelembe in the box from the left flank and the former Mamelodi Sundowns winger beat Cape Town City FC defenders before easily finishing past goalkeeper Walters, making it 2-0.

Cape Town City FC players Matt Sim and Manyama started to get more of balls which they struggled to get in first minutes but was not enough.

Defensively Cape Town City FC were not up to the game to contain Bidvest Wits attackers as poor header by Tshepo Gumede gave Bidvest Wits third goal through Mhango to make 3 -0 with a minuet to the break

The game went into the break with the home side leading 3 -0

Eric Tinkler made double substitution bringing on Moseamedi and Putsche for Jayiya and Matsi in hope to push for a goal

Moseamedi tested Moneeb Joseph twice in quick succession

Sifiso Myeni made his debut for Bidvest Wits after joining from Orlando Pirates

He nearly had a dream start on his debut when his brilliant sole run on the right flank nearly produced a goal but it was deflected for a corner

In dying minutes of second half Bidvest Wits reduced to ten men after goalkeeper Moneeb Josephs got straight red card for hitting Moseamedi after he had pushed Mhango on the touchline

But it was late for Cape Town City FC to come from behind
