MTN 8 : Downs and Chippa play to goal less draw, 1st leg MTN 8 Semi Final

Thrilling game between the Chippa United and Mamelodi Sundowns ended in a stalemate of 0 -0 at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Sunday afternoon.

thjpxtxgkdThe two teams displayed brilliant, end to end, electrifying game with flair from first minute up to 90th minutes.

Chippa United were very good and comfortable with the ball as they had more possession than Sundowns, also created more chances that they failed to convert in the first half

Okuwoso and Vilakazi collided forcing the referee to stop the game for them to be treatment

Percy Tau was caught offside on three occasions but replay showed that he was on side as Sundowns looked to capitalize and take early advantage

Thamsanqa Sangweni and Thembinkosi Lorch were instrumental in giving “The Chilli boys” an edge in all attacks

That left coach Dan Malesela unhappy because those chances created were not converted

However the visiting team as well Mamelodi Sundowns came into this game well prepared and they also displayed good football “nika nika vs tika tika”

Chippa United were too comfortable with the ball unlike Mamelodi Sundowns who we saw them committing fouls unnecessary in failing to absorb pressure that was pose to them by the chilli boys

In the second half Mamelodi Sundowns made three changes bringing on debutants

The Ivorian debutant Yannick Zakri  came on for Percy Tau who had one of the worst games

The Ivorian made an immediate impactwhen he cut inside from the left and his shot narrowly missed the target, with the keeper well beaten

Pitso Mosimane brought in debutant Mohomi for Kekana who was already skirting on thin ice as he was on a yellow card

As well as debutants Thapelo Morena came on for Sibusiso Vilakazi in the last 10 minutes of the game

but only Nascimento had chance first half to convert but it was off target.

Lorch again was too hot to be handle as was busy giving Sundowns defence tough time for the entire game, alongside Sali and  Thami Sangweni, who bossed the midfield.

Chippa United Coach Dan Malesela has proven that irrespective of how strong or big opponents are, his side going to display good football on field

it’s ended with draw after 94 minutes then will have to see in Pretoria how will it end up on who will be on the final of MTN8 when both side meet again 10 days from today in the second leg of the semi final
