MDC : MDC games at Philippi Stadium have being cancelled

The Philippi Stadium in Cape Town was ear marked to host this weekend’s MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) festival on Saturday and Sunday but that has since being cancelled.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) regrets to advise that the scheduled MultiChoice Diski Challenge festival over this weekend at Phillip Stadium has had to be moved to another venue, but the matches will NOT be open to the public. The venue is still to be confirmed.

The reasons for the cancellation are that on Thursday, 14 January 2016, there was a security and planning meeting at the stadium and, at the meeting it emerged that the venue was non-compliant. This came about because the event was unexpectedly classified as a medium risk event, when the League applied for a low risk event.

The PSL would like to apologies to members of the public who had already been issued with tickets to attend the MDC festival this Saturday or Sunday. Because the event is now a closed event, members of the public will not be able to attend.
