KaziFootball : The Alex world Cup Officially Launched

The 16 edition of the Maimane Alfred Phiri games officially launched in a glittering ceremony at Limbro Park on Wednesday night .

The Launch saw different media house and Sports personalities gracing the occasion for the Launch and Juniors draw.

The tournament has produced big name players  who currently play their trade at professional football.

Present at the Launch was the Map games Ambassadors in Mpho “Bibo”Makola , Lebogang Manyama , Figo Moloi and Joseph “Tight” Molongoane .

This Edition will see a new addition in the games in the form of Netball tournament ,that will get underway on the 11 of June 2016.

The Games also welcomed the New sponsor in Umso construction , that has taken over from Passenger rail of South Africa(Prasa).

Umso Construction is the Black-owned company that is excited to be part of the Maimane Alfred Phiri Games 2016.

Malusi Mngxathi the Director of Umso Construction said

” We are about uplift communities when Maimane approaches us we felt the need to give back to the Community through the games”. Maimane Phiri said, “The Games will be bigger this year thanks to

” We introduced Netball tournament to thank all the female supporters who have supported the Map games over the years.”

“We will continue to be innovative and in the future we want to introduce the Golf , Rugby, and other sporting Codes to the games.” he concluded

The Junior category will start on the weekend of the 4th and 5th of June 2016 while the Senior/Laddies games will start on the weekend of the 18 and 19 June 2016.

The Junior Category will be comprised of teams that come from outside Alex for the First time .

The Junior finals will take place on the 16 of June 2016 at Three Square Grounds while the senior/Laddies finals will be on the 11 of July 2016.
