KaziFootball : Day 4 Wrap up of Philly’s Games

Day 4 started with games moving from Emaseven to Esangweni and it was to be the 2nd leg of games teams wanting to progress to the last 16.

Day 4 fixture

10:00 SGodi FC vs Guara Guara

12:00 Boko Haram vs New School

14:00 Alex mates vs Ezimnadi

16:00 Ama 1’s and 2’s vs Zitholenathi

Sgodi went into the game with an advantage after winning the first leg 1-0. Guara Guara had to fight tooth and nail to get back into the tie and have a chance of winning.

Guara Guara were dealt a blow when Sgodi took a lead in the first half  when a long range free kick found a header to hit the back of the net 1-0, to lead 2-0 on aggregate. The game went into break with Sgodi in control

In the second half started like a house on fire with Guara Guara taking the game to Sgodi with a hope of getting back into the game. They were rewarded with a penalty which was calmly slotted in to make the game 1-1 and 2-1 on aggregate.

The goal gave Guara Guara some fire and they pushed for the second goals to tie the aggregate score and they were rewarded with their second goal to make the score 1-2 and 2-2 on aggregate.

The game had to be decided on penalty shoot out ye second of the Philly’s games and Guara Guara won the shootout 4-3 to advance to the last 16 stage.

The second game of the day was between Boko Haram and New School who drew 0-0 in the first leg, so both teams had to give their all to advance. Boko Haram were quick off the mark when they took the lead in the first half from header after a well placed corner to make the game 1-0 and the same score on aggregate.  Boko Haram were playing in a Mamelodi Sundown gear

New School had to dig deep and show that they are here to compete and were rewarded with a goal on the 35 minute to make the score 1-1 and the same on aggregate. The game went into the break with both sides tied at 1-1.

The second half both sides picked up were they left off and with 18 minutes into the second half Boko Haram took the lead when they scored their second goal to make the score 2-1. Boko Haram learned from their first half mistake of allowing New School back into the game.

Boko Haram pushed for that insurance goal and they were rewarded with their third goal of the game to make the game score 3-1. Boko Haram were in a mean mood and knocked the final nail into New School with their fourth goal of the game and tie to make the score 4-1.  Boko Haram marched into the last 16 stages calmly.

The third match was an Alex derby between Alex Mates and Ezimnandi. The first leg ended with Alex Mates won 2-1. The game carried a ticket to the last 16 as well as bragging rights for winning the Alex derby. Ezimnandi had to give they all to win the bragging rights of representing Alex in the next round of the last 16 stages.

Alex Mates took the lead 20 minutes into the game to make the aggregate 3-1 in their favour. The game went into the break with Alex Mate leading 1-0.

In the second half Alex Mates started like they did in the first half when they took the lead 10 minutes into the half to make the aggregate 4-1 and the game score 2-0.  Alex Mates were really running rounds around Ezimnandi and they scored their third goal of the game and to make the aggregate score 5-1. Alex Mates won the bragging rights plus the ticket to the last 16 round.

The last game was between Ama1’s and  2’s and Zitholenathi. The two sides were fighting for the last qualification spot in the last 16 after they played to a 0-0.  Ama 1’s and 2’s took a lead 30 minutes into the game to put one foot in the door for qualification. The game went into the break with Ama 1’s and 2’s leading the tie.

In the second half Ama 1’s and 2’s scored yet another goal to lead 2-0 both on aggregate and the game. Zitholenathi could put together a response and that how the game ended.
