The four matches of day five at the Philly’s games did not produce as many goals as it was expected by fans, nevertheless supporters were shown some rare skills as teams fought to break each other’s defence.

In the first 10 minutes of the game they were awarded a penalty, following a handball which obstructed the direction of the ball from FC S’godi defence. However AmaBee failed to convert the penalty but managed to score the only goal of the game minutes later.

FC S’godi tried to throw everything from their kitchen to AmaBEE who were fortunate to have managed to sustain their lead. The S’godi lads were making magnificent build ups but their final touches let them down. There is no doubt that, in the second leg they might come back improved and tougher than this game. Speaking after the game AmaBEE captain Bennet Khumalo said he is happy that the team has done well in securing a lead ahead of the second leg. “We have done well today, we might have few changes in our next game and we believe that we can do well and move to the next stage of the tournament” AmaBEE are the Tembisa side which is participating in the SAFA second division, ABC Motsepe league. They are currently placed on position three with 35 points in their basket. If they can go on to the ABC Motsepe league play-offs and win, they will be the second side after Tembisa Classic to be successful and be the pride of Tembisa.

Mad bulls has made their task easier by overpowering the Mamelodi side by 2-1 in their first leg in the last 16. Dream team are the second side from Mamelodi after Pentum four to participate in this tournament.

The Panyaza Lesufi boys, Amandla seem to be struggling in breaking Amalove day defence. Both of these teams went to the half time still goalless. Amaloveday were the first team to register their name on the score sheet from a well taken free kick. Amaloveday are the virgins in this tournament, looking forward in making a name for themselves. This game ended in a 1-1 draw.

The last game of the day in match day 5, was the most anticipated contest. The Alexander side, Gomora were defeated 1-0 by the Tembisa side of Khalambazo section. This was the most electrifying match which left the crowds applauding and asking for more. The cup hangover seem to have clouded Gomora FC as they failed to persuade the ball to kiss the net. Tembisa teams are on a campaign to kick-out Alexander teams. Black Stars and Gomora are the only teams which represent the oldest townships, Alexander. The fact that the Premier Soccer league teams are on a Christmas break, this means fans will mingle with their favourite soccer stars, as from Monday the 21st of December until the end of the tournament. Football lovers can also expect to see players who are without teams making an impact on the remaining fixtures.
