Jayiya seals it for CPT City in 1st Cape Derby|
A 20th minute goal by Soweto born Bhongolwethu Jayiya, was enough to hand Cape Town City the first win of the new Cape Town against Ajax Capes Town.
Cape Town City made it clear from the start of the game as they were the first to knock on the goal post but the it first chance went off wide the post. They kept pressure on Ajax an should have been 3 goals up in the first 15 minutes but they failed to capitalize and convert the chances.
Bhongolwethu Jayiya received the ball from a Aubrey Ngoma after a counter attack and the striker made no mistake as he tapped in to put City in the lead.
Roger De Sa side put everything they had to equalize but the City defense did the job difficult for the away team to score. The Urban Warriors real chance fell in the 75th minute when Nathan Paulse connected with a cross and saw his header go wide off the post.
City kept the cool and took it to themselves to defend as a unit towards the end of the game and ran away with a win.
Eric Tinkler expressed that he is happy with the way his charges performed on the day and should have buried Ajax with all the chances they created.
Roger De Sa was quick to congratulate his rival counterparts and stated they were better than them. He furthermore expressed that had they got a goal they could have turned things around.
