Columbian Striker Leonardo Castro could be out for more than a month after picking up an injury against Supersport United
Mamelodi Sundowns striker Leonardo Castro could be out for at least four to six weeks after sustaining an ankle injury in their MTN8 quarter-finals clash against SuperSport United in which his club won and advanced to the last eight of the tournament.
The Colombian striker came off in the 27th minutes after limping off the field.
In what was believed to be a blow for the club after his substitute, the short-sized Percy Tau came in to put in a man of the match performance as he tormented the SuperSport defense with his runs and skill.
Mamelodi Sundowns will begin their title defense without one of their trusted players in Castro.
The trio known as CBD made of Castro, Billiat and Dolly will not be seen until Castro’s return.
The player has made such a huge impact since being signed and has made an impression to the Downs supporters.
He has played well with both Khama and Dolly as they provide goals scoring opportunities for and complimenting each other.
The technical team expressed their disappointment in the player’s injury as they hoped to have him in their title defense first game in two weeks.
They declared it as a major blow but they have quality players who can come in and do the job for club.
The striker stated that he is disappointed that he won’t be part of the team that will travel to Eastern Cape in their first MTN8 semi final against Chippa but hoped to be back soon.
