Football : Siwahla signs for Polish side, Proch Pionki
Polish League IV side Proch Pionki have acquired the services of midfielder maestro Mkhanyiseli Siwahla on a 2-year deal
Mabaleng Sports Center had a chat with Midfielder Maestro Mkhanyiseli Siwahla who has surfaced in Poland as he tries to revive his football career.
Siwahla began his career with Ajax Cape Town in 2004. He became the youngest player to score a goal in South African professional football in 2004 at the age of 15 years and 174 days when he scored in an ABSA Cup game against Dynamos
The former Ajax Cape Town, FC Cape Town, Bloemfontein Celtic, Chippa United, Mpumalanga Black Aces, and Mochudi Chiefs winger was on trial Polish League IV side.
Siwahla(28) will be in Poland for 2 years, the deal is structured in a way that any team that is looking to acquire his services will have to buy him from Proch
“Anyone who will want me at a later stage will have to buy me from this team. The deal has been done in such a way that I will be able to move on if I get offers from other clubs,” he said
Siwahla has been welcomed with open arms in Poland and he shows signs of a happy person as seen in live videos he posted on his Facebook account.
His new mates are impressed with his skills and what he delivering at training that most think he belongs in the higher leagues
” They say to me that I shouldn’t be playing in Poland but I should be in France, Portugal and other UEFA countries. the People here are very friendly and welcoming ” he said
It is believed that most teams came with a contract ready to sign him away from Proch but he refused as a way of showing loyalty to the belief they had in him from the start.
“I had enquiries from other clubs from other divisions that wanted me to join them. They were offering me money and stuff but I decided to stay with the team I came here for. They took me from nowhere and gave me the opportunity. They like me and the supporters like me too,” he said
“I am happy for getting an opportunity for a new start in life. I am in Poland and excited to be here.”
” The important thing for me is to play, so I told my agent that I wanted to play outside South Africa”
When asked if he still has ambitions to play for Bafana Bafana and maybe make the PSL return, Siwahla said
“I believe in God and anything can happen, I have a big dream of playing for my country at the Top level and I believe I can add value to the country. I have played for most of the junior levels now I just need to cap it with the national team”
Mabaleng Sports Center asked him what has he learned in his long career ever since the age of 15 years till today
” I always wanted to play at all times, I didn’t understand the game and didn’t believe I was a bench warmer or someone was better than me. From Ajax, I should have gone overseas or played for one of the big teams in South Africa but unfortunately lack of the game understanding stood in my way” he concluded
