The annual Discovery Kasi Diski Challenge commenced on the 01 December 2015 at the Nike stadium in Soweto. The tournament is known of the large crowd it pulls around Soweto and it’s starts on point system and then progresses to the knockout stages. The entrance at the stadium is free and professional players are known to be around the stadium to watch their neighborhood teams take part in the tournament.

The tournament has produced a number of players who are now plying their trade in the PSL, NFS and Vodacom leagues respectively. The likes of Patrick Phungwayo, Nyiko Tshabangu, Thomas Madimba, Sipho Moeti, Khethokwakhwe Masuku, Oupa Manyisa, Siyabonga Zulu, Bhongolwethu Jayiya, Sifiso Myeni  and Linda Shiba just to mention a few have been playing in the tournament. Earlier this season we saw the major tournament crowd pullers Soweto All Stars take on Kenza Football Club in the inauguration of the Carling BlackLabel  and Soweto All Stars winning the game 2 – 1. The tournament is not short of skill, kasi flair, goals, direct football and entertainment.

We have seen the likes of Kaizer Chiefs and Wits juniors take part in the tournament. Kaizer Chiefs juniors won the tournament in 2013  after defeating Zola All Stars in the final but didn’t take part in the 2014 tournament. Wits played in the tournament and reached the quarter finals. All Stars came back to win the 2014 tournament defeating Mofolo in the final. Zola have won the tournament twice in the last 3 years and are the favorites to win it this year again.

This year the tournament has drawn teams from other part of Gauteng and looks to produce fireworks. We look forward to see who will win it this year
