Chiefs knockout Pirates |
Kaizer Chiefs are through to the final of the Telkom Knockout Challenge after defeating Orlando Pirates yesterday afternoon. Chiefs won the game through penalties 6-5 after the game ended 0-0. Siyabonga Sangweni missed the last penalty as he hit the bar and that led to Amakhosi winning.
Chiefs started well and should have been upfront in the 7 minutes when George lebese broke through only to see his shot being saved by Pirates keeper Mpontshane. Pirates then unleashed their striking force onlt for them to be denied goals by Brilliant Khuzwayo who was in the post for Kaizer Chiefs.
Pirates had a string of chances but failed to convert. Brilliant pulled out a brilliant performance and was rewarded with the team progressing to the final. Kermit Erasmus had a few chance and saw his attempts being saved by the Amakhosi goalkeeper. Thamsanqa Gabuza got a through ball with only the keeper but saw his shot saved. Nyauza also oulled a thunderous shot but Brilliant pulled another save to deny Pirates the lead.
Both clubs seemed like they would wrap up the game in extra time, but both the clubs keepers pulled out awesome saves to deny their counterparts goals to end the game in a draw.
